Papers, 1893-1944.

This collection consists of correspondence and clippings detailing the friendship between Hamilton and James Whitcomb Riley. Only three of the letters are actually from Hamilton to Riley. The remainder are from Riley's nephew, Edmund H. Eitel, to Hamilton, and attempt to elicit information from Hamilton about his uncle's youth. Riley was working on a biography of his uncle, and in 1913, published THE COMPLETE WORKS OF JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY. The clippings in this collection contain articles about Riley and an obituary of Hamilton, who died in 1944.
